Engine build-up line

The challenge

After arrival in the aircraft assembly line the engines have to be equipped with remaining components, such as the Integrated Drive Generator (IDG).

Our solution

The engines are loaded to HYDRO self-driven and height-adjustable skates for final completion in the four stations of the Engine Build-up Line. After final completion of the build-up process the engine with the skate will be moved to the engine installation area at the aircraft. In a final process the HYDRO COBRA system performs the complex engine installation process by lifting up the skate-engine construct together with the responsible mechanics for final mounting.

Jigs and Mover

The challenge

Increase the flow rate of the A320 family VTP manufacturing to enable the first Airbus assembly line to reach the intended plan rate of 63 units per month.

Our solution

We re-developed the existing Jigs and Mover concept to comply with the latest Airbus requirements and delivered additional rate-increase equipment.

A400M-Station 35

The challenge

Assembly docking station for the A400M.

Our solution

In addition to the delivery of several installation equipment for the engine and the landing gears of the A400M, we developed the A400M assembly docking station 35. This dock includes complex and moveable accesses to all areas of the aircraft. To guarantee a fast docking process major dock elements are placed on a rail system on the hangar floor and smaller dock elements are placed on rails on top of bigger elements.

Installation equipment

Engine installation: TP92, Airbus A320 FAL

The challenge

Allow a fast and easy engine installation process for the new NEO engines in all A320 Final Assembly Lines, including Toulouse, Hamburg, Tianjin, and Mobile.

Our solution

We delivered the special engine installation equipment COBRA TP 92 as well as the appropriate engine access platforms to grant access for the mechanics during the installation procedure.

Engine installation: TP95, Boeing B737 FAL

The challenge

Move the engine and the complete installation crew in the right position to finish the engine mounting at the new aircraft.

Our solution

As part of a complete solution for the Engine Build-up Line of the B737, we developed the engine installation equipment COBRA TP 95 on air skates. With this engine installation equipment the engine and the complete installation can be moved in the right position to finish the engine mounting at the new aircraft within the shortest time.

Landing gear installation: A350

The challenge

Perform the engine installation process for the A350 in its assembly line within a tight time frame.

Our solution

We are specialized in customized landing gear installation equipment. To perform the engine installation process for the A350 in its assembly line within a tight time frame we developed a highly automated installation solution.

Landing gear installation: A380

The challenge

Installation of the massive and heavy landing gear of an A380.

Our solution

The landing gear installation for the A380 requires very special equipment. We developed a solution for the largest passenger aircraft of the world – the A380. This equipment is based on a hexapod and guarantees fine positioning in six axes.

Equipment for special customer needs

Fuselage trolley for A350

The challenge

In the assembly line of the latest Airbus model A350 the fuselage mating and the wing to body mating will be performed in sequential assembly stations. In between those two stations the fuselage has to leave the station and hangar without its own main landing gears to be towed into another hangar.

Our solution

The HYDRO lifting and transportation dolly performs the lowering of the fuselage from the positioner system on a special undercarriage, the transportation of the fuselage and the lifting into the next station for the wing mating.

Skates for A400M

The challenge

Speed up the A400M assembly.

Our solution

We developed special equipment to allow the undocking of the A400M prototype aircraft with installed engines. In a very short time frame we developed a kind of roller skates for the aircraft, so that the aircraft can be moved in the jacked position and lowered outside of the docking area.
