Since 2014, companies and corporate groups that have outstanding achievements in the areas of workplace health promotion and workplace health management have been able to apply for the “Healthy Companies” award. Those that go on to win the recognition can display the corresponding award seal in the bronze, silver, gold, or platinum category at their company location, helping them stand out as attractive employers.

The focus is on best practices that promote employee health, as well as on integrating these practices into a company’s corporate philosophy and typical workday.

As the organization responsible for the “Healthy Companies” initiative, the IFU Institute for Corporate Values awards the “Germany’s Most Active Companies” national award once a year. This recognition is used to acknowledge the achievements of the best companies out of all the applications received and is presented in Berlin in addition to the relevant company location.
Uwe Beckmeyer, Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology in Berlin, was in charge of presenting the award at the Baden-Württemberg State Representation building in Berlin this year.

“Healthy employees are the most important asset that a company can have, and companies can take steps to help their employees stay healthy every day – with balanced meals at the cafeteria, for instance. At any rate, one thing is clear: Workplace health management isn’t free. But it definitely pays for itself. And today’s digital technologies make it easier for companies to organize their health offerings. All in all, it’d be an enormous step forward if as many companies as possible would follow the example of today’s ‘Germany’s Most Active Companies of 2017’,” Beckmeyer says.

HYDRO Systems, an aerospace industry company from Biberach i. K., Germany, that has locations all around the globe, established its workplace health management program nearly two years ago and was awarded the “Silver - Healthy Companies 2017” distinction at the beginning of 2017, now followed by the “Germany’s Most Active Companies” recognition, which is awarded at the federal level.
Together with project managers Beate Höge and Christine Striegel, who are responsible for the workplace health management program at HYDRO, Barbara Huttegger, Managing Partner of HYDRO Systems, was surprised and visibly proud when she learned about the distinction being awarded to her company. “This award really motivates us to keep developing our program”, Huttegger says. She then continues to explain that healthy employees are the cornerstone for the commercial success of any company.
The companies honored with the award in previous years include not only large enterprises such as Rewe and Fresenius SE, but also medium-sized companies and public institutions.
