HYDRO LOAD LIMITER- Protect your Equipment
Whenever an airplane runs off the runway and gets stuck in a place that cannot be reached by conventional towing or recovery equipment, that’s when debogging kits come in. These kits are attached to the aircraft’s main landing gear, and are made up of the following components:
A tow cable that connects the recovery kit to the landing gear, a load limiter, an LED display, and a securing loop.
It’s recommended to use recovery kits together with a tensile load limiter. By stopping the rope system when a specific maximum tensile force is reached, the mechanical load limiter ensures that components of the load limiter will not be ruined by excessive loads and have to be replaced. In addition, this load limiter can always be reset. And to make sure our own system worked properly, we recently tested our new SG224-001 tensile load limiter at the Munich Airport.
SG224-001 tensile load limiter
The SG224-001 tensile load limiter is used to mechanically prevent impermissible tensile loads within a range of 0.3 to 30 metric tons. The load point at which the load limiter will be triggered can be set in advance and adjusted in increments of 0.1 metric tons.
In order to make it possible to monitor the current load, the load limiter features a handheld remote control.
Radio-controlled handheld receiver
The remote control features a numeric display, and in addition features an LED bar that makes it possible to view and keep track of how close the load is to the set trigger point. In other words, this feature can be used to safely monitor the current load.
Weighing around 0.6 kg, the remote control can be operated manually, and each charge lasts around 30 to 50 hours.
Before the set trigger point is reached, a visual and acoustic signal is emitted in order to notify the operator in advance.
