HELICOPTER TRANSPORTATION STAND DROP TEST

Last month, the drop test for the AIT070003 was carried out at the large test stand in Biberach. The product tested is a mounting frame or transport stand for helicopters. The stand is primarily used for transportation after the helicopter is assembled.

 

During transport to North and South America, the helicopters are transported on this transportation stand in cargo machines and are exposed to various forces and accelerations.
The so-called drop test is part of the type test. This is carried out once for new prototypes and does not take place in series production.

 

Since the recording device was developed specifically for air freight, certain acceleration values are defined and then checked. From the acceleration values, 14 load cases were defined and the test was derived from them. After the test, the pickup frame was checked in detail to ensure that all weld seams held up and that no parts were broken or bent. No damage or other complaints were found, so the mounting frame is now with the customer for validation.
