FACELIFT FOR COBRA ENGINE CHANGE SYSTEM
The engine is the heart of each aircraft and has to be maintained and overhauled strictly. The COBRA engine change system is the economic, safe and highly efficient system solution for engine maintenance. It is compatible with all of today’s commercial and military aircraft. COBRA has been designed to ensure a fast engine change and to minimize operational failure and technical risks. This offers tremendous benefits by reducing costs through minimal aircraft downtimes.
Increase of operator, engine and aircraft safety
In the last 20 years more than 80 COBRA engine change units have been sold already. Based on intensive market feedback of the global COBRA operators, HYDRO has now brought the COBRA engine change system to an even higher level of operator, engine and aircraft safety. The technical improvements include software process guide, uneven floor operation, water and dust protection and increased reliability features.
Benefits for all existing as well as new COBRA customers
The entire upgrade package will increase COBRA longevity, performance and provides enhanced safety features. Improved reliability within the customer’s operation is also provided to decrease engine change and overall downtime of the aircraft.
The features of the facelift package
The new 9-inch screen provides detailed graphics and operational parameters. The primary controller has an optional sequential instruction functionality that can be used in parallel to the current configuration.
The user interface guides the operator via step-by-stop instruction through the process. The benefit? Decreasing engine change times and aircraft downtimes, while improving safety. Additionally, real time data feed improves the visibility of the loads and inclinations to include visible warning in case of overload. This ensures A.M.M. compliance and avoids pylon-overstressing.
An info letter for each engine is provided in pdf or paper format. It includes a load sheet with preload values, a scale to position the load cells, as well as a scale to position the cross beam. This added feature ensures less overall labour time in preparation, execution and completion of any engine change.
A new tool kit ensures faster and more precise positioning of the COBRA engine change system. It reduces set up and overall task accomplishment time.
Adjustable stopper with damper help to align the COBRA to the engine stand quickly, reducing preparation time significantly while maintaining the highest level of safety to the operator. The engine and as well as the engine stand additionally include a newly designed snap-in element.
The beam and the load cell scales are a quick reference to couple the position adapters. The position numbers will be provided in the COBRA package and are updated after the first engine change according to the position and characteristics of the respective engine stand employed.
New footplate wedges help to equalize an uneven floor up to 2°. This feature removes drains and floor cracks from inhibiting the COBRA functionality. The wedges are installed in the footplates, and can easily be attached via magnets.
To enhance uneven surface operations, advanced upgrades to the hydraulic system have been developed. This ensures more flexibility to the user in diverse operating conditions.
On top of this improvements a whole set of smaller updates have been applied. With applying this facelift package to your existing COBRA system you ensure maximum safety for your operator, engine as well as aircraft.
